Pura Vida! Looking Back on Mynderse’s Costa Rica Trip

Over February break, 45 Mynderse students had the unique opportunity to visit Costa Rica for eight days. For the first two nights they stayed at a picturesque resort, affectionately called El Rancho. From there, they set out to paint the walls at a local daycare and visit the market in San Jose. After leaving El Rancho, they traversed over a mountain range to plant trees in the rainforest and learn how chocolate is made. The next day, they ziplined and relaxed in natural hot springs, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. They then set off on a long trip to reach the Pacific coast, stopping along the way to walk over hanging bridges.

Pura Vida! Mynderse visits Costa Rica.

After a day spent lounging on the beautiful Jaco Beach, the group drove back to El Rancho and said adios to Costa Rica, flying back to the cold of Toronto on Thursday.

This trip truly was a once-in a lifetime experience. The students and their chaperones made many lasting memories, with junior Alyssa stating that her favorite moment was, “watching the stars on the beach.” Despite the cost, this trip provides an excellent value. In two years, Mynderse will visit Costa Rica again so underclassmen, start saving now, and prepare for an amazing trip!
